Welcome to my MemeBox review of Superbox #70. Memeboxes are Korean Beauty Boxes that usually consists of 4-7 full sized products. The pricing can range anywhere from $17 (on sale) to upwards of $40 (plus shipping). In addition, they sell most of the products in the boxes online (memebox.com) and release 1-2 new boxes weekly. They’re super popular, so they tend to sell out quickly, so it’s good to check it frequently if you’re trying to nab one.
Memeboxes are definitely for the more patient at heart, they curate the items directly from S. Korea, meaning your box has to fly over here (for me the USA).
This box was $32.00 + $6.99 shipping so all together = $38.99. I ordered it on 2/3/2015 and received in hand on 2/24/2015. Additional note–Memebox always sends their packages registered, which is great because it’s secure and requires a signature!
1. N.S.M ReBorn Tint Full size product: 5g $18
Product Description: “All three Reborn Tints create a bio-film over lips to protect and maintain moisture and nutrition within. What makes these lip products so much more special is their texture; the moment you apply them, they will instantly melt into your lips with a soothing and cooling feeling without being too glossy or sticky.”
Directions: “Apply the tint to lips from the inner contours for a natural gradation.”
My take on it: I was really excited about the color, because spring is coming and I got this really rich, coral orange/red. When swatching on my hand, it was really promising as well. However, with my skin tone, I really looked like a fish out of The Little Mermaid and unfortunately it really dried out my lips. I may retry this with a lip primer and maybe mixing it with a gloss over it. On its on, it definitely does not match my skin tone, but it could definitely work on someone maybe with less yellow pigments, or darker/lighter skin. I seem to be the perfect shade of clashing with it. Also wanted to mention ,it has some cooling properties, which is always fun in lip products!
2. LadyKin Aqua Exfoliator For Body Full sized Product – 150ml full size/$14
Product description: “Enriched with cellulose components from papaya and pineapple extracts, this Aqua Exfoliator For Body removes all bodily dead skin cells and impurities without having to scrub down hard enough to stimulate sensitive skin. All you need to do is spray this product all over your body and softly roll away the dead skin cells, for cleaner, fresher, and smoother body skin!”
Directions: “After taking a shower, towel dry your wet body, and evenly spray the Aqua Exfoliator For Body on areas you wish to remove dead skin cells. Then gently massage and roll away the now visible dead skin cells and impurities with your hands.”
My take on it: I tried this last night after my shower, and was..disappointed? A little confused? I sprayed it on my foot because I feel like that’s where I would have the most dead skin but it came off of my skin almost like gel balls? I can’t quite describe it, it really reminds me of glue residue from Elmers glue. Not sure if anyone else has experienced it. Excuse my really veiny feet, but I sprayed it on the top of it and underneath it (hard to take a picture of the bottom of your feet….) Overall, I would not purchase this again. I don’t find it to be very effective and then you need to wash that body part AFTER you use it. The smell however is very pleasant and I almost wish I could convert it into a body mist.
3. Croquis Dual Concealer Full Size- 8.1g full size/$27
Product description: “Containing an anti-wrinkle concealer and spot concealer in both ends, this Dual Concealer is definitely a must-have for when you’re heading out for a good night out, because Dual Concealer will take care of any extra coverage needed or even possible emergency redness of skin or smudges around your eyes.”
Directions: “Apply the anti-wrinkle concealer over areas with fine lines and wrinkles, and apply the spot concealer over red spots and breakouts, basically to cover up any visible skin imperfections whenever needed.”
My take on this: I really liked this!! It’s a 2 head applicator with the lighter side on one end and the darker side on the other. The consistency is a little oily/thick, so if you’re prone to break outs you might want to be careful (luckily I’m not). It has buildable coverage and would definitely work under my cushion/BB cream. I prefer the lighter side to use almost like a brightening tool for under my eyes. It seems as though it’s meant to layer the 2 sides for increased coverage, but I have been using only the anti-wrinkle concealer. I may use the other side during the summer when I’m a little more tan but for now the color doesn’t really match. This is GREAT value, i used little a dab of it and it could cover my whole hand, so in regards to blemishes it’ll go so far. If you’re extremely pale/dark, this may not work for you as the colors tend to be pretty neutral.
4. Hair+ Velvet Nutri-Injection Full Size – 12ml full size/$5
Product description: “For all those damaged hairs out there, the Velvet Nutri-Injection is here to save the day! Simply apply it throughout your hair, especially the damaged ends, after towel drying, and experience results of a hair clinic program!”
Directions: “Squeeze out the treatment and massage it into your hair thoroughly.”
My take on it: I use to have hair almost down to my butt and I recently cut it to above my shoulders, so my hair maintenance has been at all time low. That being said, I should still be taking care of my hair and this seemed like a perfect solution because it’s in a single use tube! OMG this smells wonderful and it feels really luxurious in my hair!! I used it after work as a little treat for Hump Day Wednesday whooo! My hair is silky soft and I can’t stop touching it. It’s similar to a hair mask/heavy conditioner. This might not be ideal for those with really oily hair but I avoided my roots and had great results. For $5, I think this is worth repurchasing! This plus a sheet mask and I don’t even need to goto a spa :333 hah!
5. Evas Cosmetics Vitamin Cleansing Dessert in 03 Red Wine – Full Size – 130g full size/$18
Product description: “These yummy Vitamin Cleansing Desserts completely remove makeup and impurities to give you the best down-to-the-pore clean feeling! Micro bubbles penetrate deep into the pores to extract blackheads, whiteheads, and all acne-causing bacteria to give you flawless skin!”
Directions: “Massage gently onto wet face to remove makeup and impurities. Note: To be used within 1 year of unsealing the product.”
My take on it: It’s like Memebox read my mind, I’ve been looking for a non-exfoliating cleanser and this is it! Extremely foamy, with a strong grape smell. It can be pretty drying, but my routine includes many moisturizers past the cleanser. It’s a really hefty bottle, that’ll definitely go far. The smell initially bothered me, akin to grape soda on my face. But I’ve grown to like it and I think it’s going to be a staple in my skin care regimen. The consistency is that of butter, it won’t budge in the container but when it is scooped it out it has a melting texture. This would be great for travel as well because you don’t need to be concerned with spills and leakage. I was on the fence about this product but it really changed my mind.
6. 23 Years Old Air-Laynic Pore Mask Full Size – 1 ea full size/$14
Product description: “This unique pore mask is in the form of a syringe which contains gel-type ampoule for tightening enlarged pores and fighting against any blemishes on the nose and the cheeks, the most sensitive and oily part of your face. It’s different from other pore masks in that it’s actually a 20 minute long home therapy for a cleaner, more resilient complexion.”
Directions: “Spread the ampoule over the included mask sheets and place it over your nose & cheeks area. Rest for 30 minutes as the ampoule reacts to your skin and it may actually sting a bit like a real clinic therapy. Remove the mask and rinse off.”
My take on it: This almost seems like a gimmick to me in that it sounds like a regular sheet mask, but instead they store the essence in a syringe like container and then you manually inject the essence. I like how the essence is much more controlled, in that it’s not just oozing out of the sides, and onto my hair. I even saved some of the essence. Overall, I really like the concept, they could even sell a few of the papermasks and pump more into each syringe? More eco-friendly?? 30 minutes later, it came out as a gel and my face definitely feels tighter. I didn’t experience the “stinging” that they warned of, but again, I don’t have sensitive skin. Compared to other beauty masks, at $14 that’s a bit steep. I think there are ways to make this more economical because I used only about half of the serum and if you have trouble areas, it might be a good way to target them!
7. Purebess Galactomyces 100% Full size – 50ml full size/$15
Product description: “Galactomyces works not only to lock in moisture within your skin but also to rid of any residues piled up in your pores and remove any signs of fine lines along your contours, delivering an overall effect of a more translucent and naturally glowing skin!”
Directions: “In the first step of your skincare, take 1-2 drops on your hands and pat it into the skin. Then apply an emulsion or a moisturizing cream afterwards.”
My take on it: This product had a large part in me deciding to get this box, I’ve only heard good things about it. The consistency is that of toner/micellar water. Very translucent. I’m also super excited about the size, it’s perfect for traveling because most toners/serums/etc… come in a glass bottle with a dropper, but this comes in a nice travel safe plastic bottle. After using it, I wouldn’t really call it a “serum” as they described it, it really is more of a toner. When you shake the bottle, little bubbles appear but it definitely has the consistency of water/toner. I do like the feeling on my skin, and it’s alcohol free.
8. Secret Key Color Recipe The Pink Cream – Full size – 55g full size/$34
Product description: “Secret Key’s Color Recipe The Pink Cream specifically targets signs of fine wrinkles and lines on you face and works to tighten and lift up dry, sagging skin for a more youthful, healthier-looking complexion.”
Directions: “Gently massage the cream all over face until all the capsules from the cream pop and absorb completely into the skin.”
My take on it: I love pink, so it’s not surprising I was really excited about this product. It smells delicious and the capsules look like flecks of glitter. They do indeed “pop”. I tried to include a single capsule and what it looked like once “popped”. As much as I want to believe that it’ll lift up my skin, it really felt just like a normal gel moisturizer. Nothing negative, but definitely nothing that was standing out for me. I used it for 3 nights in a row, and I wasn’t overly impressed. For $34, I don’t think I would buy this on its own. I think it’d be a fun gift as it’s aesthetically appealing and smells fantastic! Just not a product for me.
Overall, the box if valued at $145~ which is a great deal! This box was very hit or miss for me, I would rate it a 6 out of 10 in overall utility. There’s a wide variety of products, but they don’t necessarily shine in each of their categories. My personal preference is skin care over make up since make up can be tough to use if it’s not the right color, etc… so it’s still a good deal for me and I walked away with a few products I really enjoy.
